My cookies are comming out like a cake or brownie?
I am having a problem, i baked some cookies, and followed the recipe to a T (basic chocolate chip), and the cookies baked fine, but when they came out, they came out not gooey or chewy but more... fluffy textured inside, like a cake or muffin top, I remember once before when I used to live at home, the SAME thing happened with some oatmeal cookies i made. Im wondering what I did wrong...

There's a difference between folding, blending and whipping. How you mix the ingredients and the manner in which they are added are as important as the ingredients themselves.

Are you sure you’re cooking them long enough? When that happens to me, the dough usually tastes a bit uncooked; or maybe you just need to let them sit for a while a cool down, or you could have used a bit to much yeast and not noticed…

Good morning…Sometimes recipes are not that accurate such as on a box because misprints do occur unfortunately. Now what I have learned in baking is sometimes when a cookie is too fluffy and not crispy as you referred, that there is either too much flour or you either used oil instead of butter in your recipe or you beat the cookie mixture too much. Remember that you beat your eggs,sugars, and butter/margarine/Crisco in your bowl first then set aside. In another bowl place your dry ingredients in and blend thoroughly with a spoon. When combining the two bowls place the dry mixture slowly mixing with the sugar and egg mixture. After your flour mixture has been folded into the other ingredients then you fold in your chocolate chips. never use your mixer when doing this since it could make the batter a chocolate mess combo. Experiment with your recipes.Try using butter or Crisco and not the oil when butter is being used in the recipe. Watch out and measure correctly on the baking soda and baking powder also. And preheat your oven to the specified temp. Hope this has helped. Have a great day!
